Virginia: Thoroughbreds, Racing and Breeding:

Our speaker is Josh Pons, the two-time Eclipse Award-winning author of Letters from Country Life: Adolphe Pons, Man O'War, and the Founding of Maryland's Oldest Thoroughbred Farm. He will discuss the history of Virginia's foundation Thoroughbreds through today's resurgence of Virginia racing and breeding.

Dedication of Historic Marker for Boston:

Following Josh's presentation will be a Historic Marker Dedication for the famous thoroughbred horse Boston, who was foaled in Henrico County.

"Boston (1833-1850) was an outstanding Thoroughbred racehorse and a leading sire in North America three times from 1851 to 1853. He started in about 45 races, winning 40, including 15 in succession. Boston was later one of the initial inductees into the Hall of Fame." - Wikipedia.

Touring Historic Tuckahoe:

There will also be a special tour of Historic Tuckahoe. Registration is required and there will be a $15.00 per person fee to cover additional staff at Historic Tuckahoe.
